AT$T Unilaterally Changes "Grandfathered" Retirees Healthcare Coverage Effective January 1, 2017

Sister & Brother AT$T “Grandfathered” Retirees:
AT$T is unilaterally transitioning grandfathered (Pre 1/1/93 retirees AT$T Midwest & Pre 3/1/90 Legacy AT$T) to the AON private exchanges. Unfortunately the only information we have been provided is in the attached document. The information is very basic and lacks many details. We are trying to obtain clarification on several issues as well as more detailed information on the changes. There was no call, just the mailing CWA District 4 received. Below is the text of the e-mail D4 received notifying us of the changes. The talking point document AT$T referenced is Under Article Files Below.
E-mail CWA District 4 Received From AT$T
“We will be making some changes to medical coverage for AT&T’s retirees that retired prior to certain dates as outlined below:
Legacy AT&T - 3/1/90
Southwest - 9/1/92
West - 1/2/91
Midwest - 1/1/93
East - 1/1/90
Southeast - 1/1/92
The change will encompass moving them from their current self-insured group plan, to a fully insured group Medicare Advantage Plan insured by United Health Care. This change will be effective 1/1/17. Their current prescription drug provider will not change, however those that are with Blue Cross for their medical coverage will have a new administrator with minimal physician disruption.
I have attached a document for your use that gets into more detail on this change than I can get into here on the message. Note too, there will be changes to their dental and vision coverage's as well. The formerly represented retirees will have access to vision coverage (100% paid by the retiree) for the first time.”
