Government Action on Offshoring?

Two years ago, the U.S. Department of Commerce's Technology Administration (TA) arm undertook a high-level study on the impact of offshore outsourcing to the U.S. economy and to American workers. The study, which came in at 200 pages and cost $335,000 in U.S. taxpayer money, was subsequently not released to Congress. All that emerged was a twelve-page synopsis. Now a number of Democrats on the House Science Committee have introduced a resolution (717) designed to make the Secretary of Commerce disclose the entire report to Congress. That resolution is being considered by the full House Science Committee this morning. Download complete story and copy of the twelve page synopsis, in PDF format.
